New York City saw an eclectic mix among its biggest retail leases last month.
In addition to the usual suspects (retail chains, restaurants, etc.), the city will soon be playing host to new private schools, furniture makers and two new social clubs. The very largest of these leases, however, was secured by a national chain with more than 70 locations, who is only just now securing the first within the five boroughs. 1) 99 Ranch Market | 37-11 Main Street | Flushing | 44,000 sf
The West Coast-based market inked a new lease in the Flushing building. It will be the grocer’s first location in New York City. The building is owned by Mehran Realty Group.
2) Moncler Group | 767 Fifth Avenue | Plaza District | 24,000 sf
The Italian fashion brand signed a new sublease in the Plaza District, taking over some of Under Armour’s retail space within the building.
3) Dog PPL | 12 Berry Street | Williamsburg | 18,000 sf
The Santa Monica-based social club inked a new lease on the roof of the Williamsburg building, where it will open a private dog park. Avi Akiva and Richard Babeck of Tri State Commercial Realty represented both the tenant and the landlord, Samuel Teitelbaum.
3) Yeshivat Darche Eres | 1870 Stillwell Avenue | Bensonhurst | 18,000 sf
The private school signed a new lease for the entire Bensonhurst building. Avi Akiva of Tri State Commercial Realty represented both the tenant and the landlord, Solleah Realty.
4) AIS | 257 Park Avenue | Grand Central | 12,600 sf
The New England-based furniture maker signed a new expansion in the Grand Central building, where it plans to expand its showroom into the fourth floor. Scott Panzer and Justin Haber of JLL represented the tenant, while Andrew Wiener and Robert Fisher of Feil Organization represented the landlord in house.
5) Rosa Mexicano | 1889 Broadway | Upper West Side | 12,000 sf
The restaurant signed a new lease in the Upper West Side building, relocating from the neighboring 61 Columbus Avenue. Neil Seth and Kenji Ota of Cushman & Wakefield represented the tenant, while Jeff Winick and Yoel Gorjian of Winick represented the landlord, Joseph Chetrit, Podolsky family.
6) Snipes | 815 Hutchinson River Parkway | Throggs Neck | 6,900 sf
The sneaker retailer signed a new lease in the Throggs Neck building. Ryan Condren of JLL represented the tenant, while Karnit Mosberg of Royal Properties represented the landlord, Simone Development Companies.
7) Sephora | 385 Ninth Avenue | Hudson Yards | 6,200 sf
The makeup and cosmetics retailer signed a new lease in the Hudson Yards building. Virginia Pittarelli and Christine Jorge of Retail by MONA represented the tenant, while Elisa Young and Robin Dinkin of Brookfield Properties represented the landlord in house.
8) Paulie Gee’s Slice Shop | 305 Nevins Street | Gowanus | 4,400 sf
The pizzeria signed a new lease in the Gowanus building. A 4-member Atlantic Retail team including Joe Mastromonaco and Evan Clements represented both the tenant and the landlords, Brodsky Organization and Avery Hall Investments.
9) Casa Tua | 83 Gardner Avenue | Bushwick | 3,700 sf
The private club signed a new lease in the Bushwick building. Joe Robinson of Newmark represented the tenant, while Corey Cohen of The Roebling Group represented the landlord, EBC Capital, alongside Eitan Hakami of Greiner-Maltz Real Estate.
10) Wonder | 1029 Fulton Street | Clinton Hill | 3,200 sf
The food delivery service signed a new lease in the Clinton Hill building. Dillon Ross and Jon Paul Pirraglia of Ripco Real Estate represented the tenant, while Eddie Keda and Avi Akiva of Tri State Commercial Realty represented the landlord, Big Apple Developers.
