Home goods company Brooklinen is throwing in the towel on Brooklyn.
The luxury linens retailer inked a 10-year office lease at Hudson Square Properties’ 225 Varick Street, the landlord announced. The 10-year-old company is taking 32,000 square feet at the Hudson Square building, a joint venture between Trinity Real Estate, Norges Bank Investment Management, and Hines.
A spokesperson for the landlord declined to disclose the asking rent. Brooklinen is relocating from 10 Jay Street in Dumbo.
A CBRE team including Howard Fiddle and Neil King represented the landlord. JLL’s Joseph Sipala and Ian Lipman represented Brooklinen.
Hudson Square Properties reopened 225 Varick Street in 2018 with a newly renovated lobby and other upgrades to the 1926 building. Other tenants include Shake Shack and Squarespace. It is currently 82 percent leased.
Hudson Square Properties’ 12-building portfolio also includes 160 Varick Street, 155 Avenue of the Americas and 205 Hudson Street.
The Hudson Square neighborhood — nestled along the Hudson River and bordered by SoHo, the West Village and Tribeca — has been undergoing a commercial revitalization and rebranding.
Google opened a new campus last year at St. John’s Terminal at 550 Washington Street. Disney built a 19-story complex nearby at 4 Hudson Square for its New York City headquarters and started relocating employees there last month.
