The sex trafficking case against the Alexander brothers has landed in New York.

Oren, Tal and Alon Alexander will remain in jail until and through their sex trafficking trial, after a federal judge denied bail appeals for Tal and Alon Alexander. Oren, who had his first detention hearing, was also denied bail.

None of the three brothers were present for the hearing on Wednesday before Judge Valerie Caproni, which marked their first hearing in the Southern District of New York after their arrest in Miami in December. Federal judges in Florida denied Tal and Alon’s bail proposals and required they remain in custody ahead of and during their trial.

The brothers will be transferred to New York next week and will likely be held at Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, where rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs and Luigi Mangione are being held.

Howard Srebnick, an attorney for Alon, said their parents, Shlomy and Orly Alexander, were concerned about the brothers’ safety in the jail, considering past reports of neglect and dangerous conditions.

“Look, it’s a jail,” Caproni said and added that the “horror stories” were “just not true anymore.”

Prosecutor Andrew Jones also presented a breakdown of the alleged victims on Wednesday. More than 20 women told investigators they were raped by Oren; the majority of those incidents allegedly occurred between 2011 and 2021.

So far, 13 women have alleged Alon raped them, including one while he was in high school and two who were minors. Twelve of the alleged victims say they were attacked by Alon between 2009 and 2018, according to the government.

Jones said 10 women had come forward with allegations against Tal, including one woman who was 16 at the time, and said one or more of the brothers threatened women to keep quiet. Jones detailed an alleged instance of intimidation when after a woman was allegedly assaulted by Oren she confronted him. Oren allegedly held her down, masturbated and said he would “destroy” her if she came forward, Jones said.

Richard Klugh, Oren’s attorney, referred to the fact that the brothers are all married and that the most recent allegations are from 2021.

“The risk of orgying is zero,” Klugh said.

Andrews said, “I have no belief that that’s the last victim that exists in the world.”

In their proposal to be released on house arrest, Alon’s attorney Srebnick said the brothers’ parents “are prepared to risk everything they have because they know their children will not disappoint them.”

Srebnick pointed to a “condo in the sky” as an option for release, echoing his previous pitch for Alon to be held on house arrest Tal’s apartment “on a higher floor with no balconies.” Tal, who was denied bail in mid-December, has been renting a unit at 432 Park Avenue, a luxury tower on Billionaires’ Row, since 2019.

During a raid of Tal’s Manhattan apartment the day the brothers were all arrested in South Florida, law enforcement found a hard drive that contained explicit videos, prosecutors revealed in a letter addressed to Judge Caproni last week. The hard drive, found in a closet with other items that seemed to belong to Oren, included photos and videos that showed Oren and Alon and other unidentified individuals “engaging in sexual contact” with women who appeared to be intoxicated.

At least one of the brothers and another man “physically manipulated the women’s bodies to have sex with them while the women did not actively participate in the sexual activity or turned away,” the prosecutors wrote. An attorney for Tal said there was “no allegation that the videos show anything nonconsensual or illegal in any way.”

Attorneys for Tal and Alon previously offered “any amount”, suggesting up to $1 billion backed by the family’s homes and office buildings, to secure their release. Alon’s attorney also pushed for him to be let out on house arrest with an ankle monitor and private security. A Florida judge rejected the proposal and sided with prosecutors who argued Alon is a flight risk and that it would be a conflict to allow Alon to pay for his own jail.

On Dec. 11, Oren, Tal and Alon were arrested by the FBI on charges of sex trafficking and conspiracy to commit sex trafficking. The federal indictment alleges the brothers drugged and raped women during a period that spanned more than a decade. An FBI agent testified that the task force had spoken with 42 women with similar allegations.

The Alexanders denied the allegations.

Oren and Alon are also facing sexual battery charges in Miami-Dade County. A magistrate judge granted the twin brothers’ request for release on house arrest, though they had to remain in custody on the federal charges.

One or more of the brothers are also facing civil lawsuits alleging they raped and drugged women.
