Dustin Stolly is back in the game, and reuniting with former co-workers at a new place.
Stolly started on Monday as a senior managing director of Walker & Dunlop’s capital markets team, the Commercial Observer reported. Other members of the team include Aaron Appel, Keith Kurland, Jonathan Schwartz and Adam Schwartz, all of whom worked together back at JLL.
The new addition is a big get for W&D. Last year, the capital markets team at the firm arranged capital totaling $16 billion from non-agency lenders. For his career, Stolly has arranged more than $100 billion in transactions.
“Dustin’s experience, coupled with our existing team, will make W&D’s capital markets and structured finance team one of the very best in the industry,” W&D chair Willy Walker said in a statement.
Stolly left his position as Newmark’s co-president of debt and structured finance in September after seven years with the company. Stolly and Jordan Roeschlaub formed one of the industry’s top capital markets teams. In the 12 months ending in March 2023, Stolly facilitated $29.1 billion of loans and $5.18 billion of equity. The duo also arranged $1.3 billion in loan sales over the same period, seemingly undaunted by rising interest rates.
Stolly also worked on Newmark’s push towards raising equity for platform and programmatic joint ventures.
Before joining Newmark in 2017, Stolly spent 10 years at JLL, where he closed $25 billion worth of capital market transactions and was managing director of the brokerage’s investment banking practice.
“Walker & Dunlop represents everything I am looking for in my next chapter — scale, vision and a relentless drive to lead the industry,” Stolly said in a statement about his move.
Willy Walker suggested during a fourth quarter earnings report that W&D was ready to position itself for success in the new year.
“Moving into 2025, we believe the worst of the Great Tightening is behind us and that W&D is extremely well positioned to meet the market needs over the next several years,” Walker said at the time.
