NYC’s top deals: U.S. ambassador to Morocco sells $19M Fifth Ave. pad

There were 208 transactions totaling $660 million recorded in New York City in the 24 hours before 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2026.

🏆 Residential: An Upper East Side co-op was the top home sale recorded in the Big Apple. Harvey C. Jones, an investor and tech entrepreneur, dropped $18.8 million on a pad at 1030 Fifth Avenue. The sellers were Duke Buchan, a financier serving as the ambassador to Morocco, and Hannah Buchan, who is also a financier. The Buchans had owned the unit since 2010, when they purchased it for about $8.9 million. The co-op has four bedrooms, four and a half bathrooms and views of Central Park and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The last asking price for the unit was $19 million. Compass’ Alexa Lambert, Marc Achilles and Georgeana Leontiou had the listing.

🏆 Commercial: Charles Cohen’s sale of a distressed office property at 3 East 54th Street in Midtown Manhattan closed, marking the day’s top commercial real estate deal. Cohen sold the property for $141 million to Vornado Realty Trust, which plans to raze it. The property stands 19 stories tall and spans 300,000 square feet. Cohen, court-ordered to repay hundreds of millions to its creditor, Fortress Investment Group, had owned a 63 percent stake in the building and last year intended to sell it to an unnamed buyer for $188 million.

📊 Commercial: Washington, D.C.-based private equity firm The Carlyle Group and Z+G Property Group closed on their acquisition of a newly built multifamily at 130 Second Street in Gowanus for $105 million. The seller was a joint venture of Joyland Management, Meral Property Group and the Loketch Group. The building has 132 units — 99 market-rate and 33 affordable units — and stands 13 stories tall. The transaction, which was brokered by JLL, pencils out to $795,000 per unit.

📊 Residential: A townhouse at 409 Sackett Street in Carroll Gardens sold for $8.2 million. The seller was an LLC, named after the property’s address, that had purchased the residence in 2022 for $3.3 million. The buyers were Mark Grennan, a business development manager at Amazon Live, and Daire Hickey, co-founder of public relations firm 150Bond. The five-bedroom home spans 4,440 square feet. It has four and a half baths, a terrace and garden. Corcoran’s Ellen Gottlieb and Neely Johnson had the listing, which went live in March for $9.9 million.

📊 Residential: A trust tied to Anastasia Fetisov, a film producer who is the daughter of hockey hall of famer Slava Fetisov, sold a condo at 1 Central Park West for $6.9 million. The buyer was an LLC tied to lawyer and investment banker Mark Boidman. The Lincoln Square residence first hit the market in May 2024 for just under $8 million. It spans about 2,300 square feet and has three bedrooms and three and a half baths. Compass’ Hunie Kwon, Clayton Orrigo, Stephen Ferrara, Grace Steel and Brian Bruno had the listing.
