A global law firm is climbing to the top of the Rock.
Withers has inked a 33,000-square-foot lease at Tishman Speyer’s iconic 30 Rockefeller Plaza, the landlord announced. The firm’s New York headquarters will occupy the 54th floor of the Midtown Art Deco building under a 15-year lease. The asking rent was $112 per square foot, per the New York Post.
Withers is relocating its headquarters from 430 Park Avenue, joining a mix of corporate, media and professional services tenants that call 30 Rock home. Recent new tenants to the building include executive recruiting and consulting firm DHR Global, floor mat maker House of Noa and the hedge fund Empery Asset Management. Withers will have access to Tishman Speyer’s global amenity program, ZO, which offers exclusive workspaces, wellness services and lifestyle perks across its properties.
A JLL team including Cynthia Wasserberger, Michael Berg and Bobby Blair represented Withers. Tishman was represented in-house by Blythe Kinsler and Kate Walker.
The 70-story landmarked skyscraper, built in 1933, is best known for housing NBC and NBC Studios and serving as a backdrop for shows like “30 Rock,” “Saturday Night Live” and “NBC Nightly News.” Amenities include shops and restaurants, the three-level Top of the Rock observation deck, and discounted prices at attractions like The Rink and The Beam.
The lease signing comes at a fortuitous time for 30 Rock, of which Tishman owns about two-thirds and about one-third is owned by Comcast for its NBC studios. The building is soon to lose a major tenant. Accounting and consulting firm Deloitte announced plans last year to lease 800,000 square feet at Related Companies’ 70 Hudson Yards and relocate from its Rockefeller Center offices. But it will be a while before Deloitte can move in. Related just broke ground on the project this summer.
