Lerner paid $12.5 million for the property on Town Lane and “immediately began clearing trees,” according to 27east.

The Peconic Land Trust is now seeking $1 million in damages per tree, claiming Lerner razed them in violation of a conservation easement it owns. Lerner said he cleared the trees because he planned to plant fruit trees and crops in their place. [27east]
