New Jersey Transit has appointed its first-ever “chief of real estate,” NJBIZ reported. The transit agency tapped Carmen Taveras, a real estate industry veteran of more than two decades, to be its chief of real estate, economic development and transit oriented development, NJ Transit president and CEO Kevin Corbett said. Taveras will help the agency “more aggressively use TOD to develop under-utilized properties around transit, optimize the value of assets across the state, and generate additional non-farebox revenue, which will ultimately benefit our customers,” Corbett said in a statement.
