A developer has secured a zoning change needed to move forward with a $120 million transit-oriented rental project on Long Island, Long Island Business News reported. AvalonBay Communities plans to build a 338-unit rental complex called Avalon Amityville on 7.7 acres of land in the Village of Amityville, according to the outlet. The site near the Amityville Long Island Rail Road station was home to the shuttered Brunswick Hospital until it was “mostly demolished” in 2012. “It’s nice to see the property get back on the tax rolls,” Amityville Mayor Dennis Siry told the outlet.
