Eight Pier 1 stores on Long Island are closing as the company moves to shutter hundreds of stores, Newsday reported. The retailer’s outpost in Bohemia has already closed, and stores in Bay Shore, Carle Place, Commack, Huntington Station, Long Beach, New Hyde Park and Riverhead will also shut their doors, according to the outlet. The eight stores span a total of 82,443 square feet. In a statement last month, Pier 1 said it would close up to 450 stores as part of an effort “to better align its business with the current operating environment.” [Newsday]
