The spike in rental activity in the Hamptons last month was driven by New Yorkers seeking a safe haven. Since then, it’s subsided, according to brokers who spoke to the East Hampton Star. Nestseekers broker Geoff Gifkins said rentals increased 40 percent last month, but many of those renters are now sheltering in place.
