Hamptons hermits’ spending spree strains sanitation crews

Wealthy folks isolating in the Hamptons aren’t slowing down their spending — and it is straining sanitation workers, according to the Daily Beast.

Workers described massive amounts of cardboard and packing waste they have had to pick up from the curbs outside estates on their routes. They worry it is increasing their risk of contracting Covid-19 themselves. (Studies have found the coronavirus can survive 24 hours on cardboard, but the risk of infection drops over time as the virus dries out and dies.)
