Workers are back on the job building the New York Islanders’ new arena at Belmont Park following a two-month stoppage brought on by the coronavirus pandemic, according to Newsday.
Islanders president and general manager Lou Lamoriello said he didn’t believe the target opening date of October 2021 will be affected by the stoppage because the project was “ahead of schedule” when work paused.
Long Island towns and cities were cleared under New York’s phased re-opening plan to restart construction projects, some retail, manufacturing, and a host of other business activities Wednesday. The arena is part of the larger $1.3 billion Belmont Park mixed-use entertainment and hospitality project. [Newsday] — Dennis Lynch
