Southampton town officials are considering leasing the former Manhattan Motorcars building in Westhampton for a community center, according to the Southampton Press. The town board is scheduled to consider the property on August 11. The proposal is to lease the 22,000-square-foot property for $200,000 per year with an option to buy it for $4 million. The building is three floors, with elevator access and a two-story rotunda. Town Councilman John Bouvier called it “a deal you just can’t pass up,” and said the town would likely need to spent around $500,000 on renovations beyond what the current owners will undertake.
