The original Ann Taylor store on New Haven’s Chapel Street will permanently shutter as part of Ascena Retail Group’s bankruptcy, according to the Stamford Advocate.
Richard Liebeskind opened the store in 1954 and it has remained in operation ever since. Now it is one of several Ann Taylor stores in Connecticut and nationwide closing. Ascena purchased the chain for $2.1 billion in 2015.
Ascena filed for bankruptcy last week. Authentic Brands and Sycamore Partners have expressed interest in buying Ascena’s brands, which also include Lane Bryant and Loft. [Stamford Advocate] — Dennis Lynch
