Whole Foods “flagship” store underway in Garden City
Whole Foods is continuing its expansion in Long Island with two new supermarkets, adding to its four existing stores, according to Newsday. That includes a ground-up location at a former Pepsi bottling plant in Garden City that totals 53,000 square feet. It’s the largest Whole Foods location yet on Long Island and described as a “flagship” store by developer Midwood Investment and Development. The other is a roughly 38,500-square-foot location opening in a former Babies R Us space in Massapequa. The shell of the Garden City location is about complete. Whole Foods opened its most recent Long Island location in Commack in April 2019. [Newsday] – Dennis Lynch
