Preservationists are trying to save a 95-year-old home in their Wantagh neighborhood, but so far officials have found no reason to save it from the wrecking ball, according to Newsday. Developers bought the home at an estate sale in May for $1 million and plan to divide the half-acre property and build two new houses. Resident Joan Kemnitzer said she plans to request landmark status for the property with the Hempstead Landmark Preservation Commission. The local Wantagh Preservation Society has already decided it has no historical value, despite its age. The Nassau County Planning Commission is taking public comments on the developers’ proposal through Monday. [Newsday] – Dennis Lynch
