A Sag Harbor resort is booking six-month, offseason stays to attract families hesitant to return to the city, according to the New York Post.

The packages at Baron’s Cove cost $14,000 to $20,000 depending on the room size and location. That is less than a third of the price of booking a room night-by-night for the offseason. But historically, there is not a lot going on in the Hamptons during the offseason.

Meanwhile, New York City is continuing to reopen. Fitness centers, bowling alleys and museums have been given the green light by Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Bill de Blasio, and the governor said he will come up with a plan for theaters. Public schools will reopen Sept. 10. Indoor dining in the city remains on hold, and restaurants’ trade group is now threatening to sue the city and state.

The Baron’s Cove rooms are available from Oct. 12 to April 1. An exodus of New Yorkers eastward during the worst of the coronavirus pandemic made for a tight summer rental market in the Hamptons. The housing market has also heated up, which might indicate that some new Hamptonites want to stick around, but could also mean they want to be assured of lodging their next summer. [NYP]
