The Sag Harbor Village Board of Trustees has approved a six-month ban on major developments along a large chunk of its central waterfront.

The moratorium will be in effect while a team of consultants the village board hired works to create a set of proposals for a “form-based” code to inform development, according to the Southampton Press. A committee will review those proposals, which will be sent to the board for approval.

Trustee member James Larocca voiced concern that there were no business owners or environmentalists on the committee. He said Sag Harbor board members should play some part in the initial meetings. The board ultimately rejected his proposal to expand the committee. [Southampton Press]
