New Jersey businesses will no longer be required to enforce a face covering mandate.
On Friday, the state will end its indoor mask rule, giving individual businesses the power to set their own policy, the Wall Street Journal reported.
Masks will still be required on public transportation and some state offices, and in healthcare facilities. The state also recommends unvaccinated individuals continue to wear masks in public.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention earlier this month said it was safe for fully vaccinated people to go most places indoors without face coverings.
Several states are adopting that guidance, including New York. California will wait until June 15 to adopt the CDC’s policy. Many business owners and landlords are eager to adopt the federal recommendations.
