An island in Putnam County hit the market, and has the unique distinction of including two homes designed by famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright.
The whole package, including everything in the 10-acre island in Lake Mahopac, is listed for just under $10 million, according to the Times-Union. The island is technically in town of Carmel.
The main house, known as the Massaro House, was built based on Wright’s designs decades after his death, constructed in the early 2000s. The 5,000-square-foot home comes with skylights, wood and stone features throughout and an outdoor seating area above the lake.
The other home using Wright’s designs, the A.K. Chahroudi Cottage, is 1,200 square feet. Both the cottage and the home are named after its original owners. They combine for six bedrooms and three and a half baths.
As the only Frank Lloyd Wright-designed homes in the Hudson Valley, they last appeared on the market in 2018 for $12.9 million. The price on the island homes was lowered last year.
The properties are private to the island, which is in the middle of a 593-acre lake accessible, of course, by boat.
