Southampton’s Linden Estate has sold at last.
The nine-acre property at 160 Ox Pasture Road, which includes an 18,000-square-foot mansion, traded for $70 million in one of the area’s priciest deals this year, the Wall Street Journal reported. The estate had been on and off the market for more than a decade and was most recently listed late last year for $69.95 million.
The sellers were Jürgen Friedrich, the billionaire fashion mogul who founded the European branch of Esprit Holdings, and his wife Anke Beck-Friedrich. The couple paid $8.5 million for the property 20 years ago before undertaking tens of millions of dollars worth of renovations, according to Corcoran agent Tim Davis, who had the listing with Harald Grant of Sotheby’s.
The sale marks the highest price ever paid for a non-waterfront Hamptons property, Davis told the Journal.

The Friedrichs first listed the estate for nearly $60 million in 2008. A buyer went into contract for the property in 2012 when it was asking $49 million, but the sale fell through and the estate hit the market again in 2013 for $45 million.
The sprawling estate, built in 1899, includes a 12-bedroom main home, a 60-foot pool, a tennis court and two detached garages.
The property also contains a carriage house with an attached greenhouse and gardens originally designed by landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted, who also designed Manhattan’s Central Park.
