Montauk trailer listing eyes record — even with a price cut
Listing asks $4.4M for 2K sf home in possible peak
A trailer home in Montauk had its listing price cut by $600,000 and still might wind up as the most expensive sale of its kind.
A 2,150-square-foot property in the luxury Montauk Shores trailer park is on the market for $4.4 million, the New York Post reported. Unit #200 at 200 Edgewater Drive in the East End town previously listed for $5 million in the spring. If it sells for its listing price, it would set a record for trailer home sales in Montauk Shores, though the price per square foot of $2,046 wouldn’t be a record.
The modular home has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, located steps from the famed Ditch Plains surfing spot. Constructed eight years ago, the home also has a wraparound deck, an outdoor shower, central air inside, an open layout and a loft.
Keller Williams Realty Landmark’s Mackenzie Burniche has the listing.
The Montauk Shores record was smashed in February when a 800-square-foot trailer sold off-market for $3.75 million, or $5,000 per square foot. The previous record was less than half of that.
Approximately a dozen homes in Montauk Shores have sold in the last couple of years, ranging in price from $675,000 to $1.4 million. While seven-figure deals in the community were once unheard of, the premium of living within a hop and a skip of the ocean has sent prices soaring, especially as wealthy homeowners seek a different lifestyle.
Among the celebrities and business figures to put down roots in Montauk Shores are Jimmy Buffett (who won a bidding war for his trailer), film producer Karen Lauder, billionaire investor Daniel Loeb and Energy Brands co-founder Darius Bikoff.
The community, which sits on a bluff overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, features amenities including swimming pools, a rec center, a basketball court and a playground.
