Brian Malliet
Founder, Chief Executive Officer, BKM Capital Partners
Malliet’s BKM Capital Partners recently shifted its fundraising process. Rather than focusing solely on institutional capital, the company has leaned into a 50/50 balance with joint ventures.
That goes hand in hand with a recently announced JV with Kayne Anderson Real Estate to buy $1.5 billion in light industrial buildings across the country. The joint venture closed seven acquisitions totaling $1.24 billion so far. Malliet has acquired over 120 light industrial and multi-use logistics assets valued at approximately $3.6 billion and has done more than 150 million square feet of real estate transactions over his career.
Malliet founded a development company in the 2000s, which he later sold to Voit Real Estate, where he then took a C-suite job. But it appears he wanted to be his own boss again, so he founded BKM Capital Partners. Last year, BKM Capital Partners closed $2.5 billion in transactions across 26 acquisitions, adding more than 5.2 million square feet to its portfolio.
