David Moore

David Moore is the founder and CEO of Knightvest Capital, one of the top 50 largest apartment developers, investors and managers in the country. 

He’s bought and sold more than 60,000 apartments since founding the company in 2007, with the portfolio at about 35,000 units these days. Moore, who is a Chartered Financial Analyst, had stints in finance and accounting before launching Knightvest with an eye for picking up properties at tax auctions. Moore has since dramatically scaled the company, which now has a total capitalization of $10 billion. 

Knightvest has lately been acquiring apartment communities, often value‑add or repositioning opportunities, rather than new construction. It emphasizes strategic acquisitions in high-growth markets like Dallas-Fort Worth and Austin. This year, Texas metros look poised to provide an indicator on Knightvest’s strategies as distress continues to trouble some syndicators who beefed up during the pandemic only to struggle with rising interest rates, opening opportunities for longer-established players.
