Daniel and Mayi de la Vega
The de la Vegas run One Sotheby’s International Realty, one of the top residential and new development sales firms in South Florida. Daniel de la Vega tried his hand at construction and accounting firms before joining his mother, Mayi, who founded One Sotheby’s International Realty in 2008 with Daniel as president.
Mayi, who was born in Cuba and fled the country with her parents at the age of 3, became a real estate agent in the 1990s with Coldwell Banker and co-founded the brokerage Stewart de la Vega in 2004 before leaving to start One Sotheby’s.
In 2026, Mayi stepped down as CEO and became executive chair, handing off the chief executive role to Daniel as part of a succession plan years in the making. But Mayi isn’t going anywhere. “This is my life blood,” she said. “For me, the more time I have to dedicate to this company the happier I am.”
Under Daniel’s leadership, the Coconut Grove-based firm, with about 30 offices and 1,300 agents, has also expanded beyond the tri-country region in recent years and plans to grow outside of Florida.
One Sotheby’s new development portfolio has included the Zaha Hadid-designed One Thousand Museum, and the firm is leading sales for Integra Investments and Related Group’s St. Regis Residences Brickell.
Mayi’s daughter and Daniel’s sister, Alina de la Vega MacLean, is also an agent at One Sotheby’s.
Daniel is married to Veronica Bilbao de la Vega, a public defender who was found guilty of a second degree misdemeanor in 2025 after she struck and killed University of Miami student Daniel Bishop while driving in Coral Gables. Bishop’s family filed a wrongful death suit against Bilbao de la Vega.
