Fredrik Eklund and John Gomes

Founders, the Eklund-Gomes Team

Eklund and Gomes are synonymous with luxury mega-teams.

The duo met in 2005 at Shaun Osher’s boutique firm, Core Real Estate. Gomes had just arrived from a brief stint at Douglas Elliman, where he was brought in by developer Michael Shvo – then an agent — after the two crossed paths while Gomes was a maitre d’ at Balthazar.

At Core, Eklund and Gomes refined a model built around early-stage consulting with developers on high-end projects. But when the Swedish-born Eklund landed a role on Bravo’s “Million Dollar Listing” in 2010, the partners moved their growing team to Elliman.

The pair capitalized on Eklund’s rising fame, growing their team to become one of the largest and most well-known in the luxury sector. The cohort now has roughly 100 agents across its markets, including New York and the Hamptons, and consistently ranks as the top resale and new development team in the city. Last year, the team closed one of the most expensive deals of the year, representing the buyer for a $117 million penthouse at Central Park Tower.

In 2022, Eklund and Gomes signed a five-year deal with Elliman, doubling down on the company even as they continued to develop their own brand distinct from it. Their path stands in contrast to Eklund’s “Million Dollar Listing” co-star Ryan Serhant, who chose to forego legacy brokerage to start his own firm.
