Gino Canori

CEO, Market Rate, Related California

The Bay Area-based executive just took the helm of Related California’s market-rate division, with colleague Ann Silverberg now overseeing the developer’s affordable projects in the wake of a shift to chairman emeritus by longtime leader Bill Witte (see related entries).

Canori already held — and retains — the title of president of the firm overall, giving him day-to-day responsibility for a lineup of projects that has ranged from The Grand LA, an upscale hotel-and-condo development on Bunker Hill to Related Santa Clara, a 9.2-million-square-foot master plan adjacent to the San Francisco 49ers Levi’s Stadium.

He arrives in his new post as San Francisco continues to emerge from the hangover of the pandemic, with an office market that appears to have found bottom as an AI boomlet helps and the trading range creeps beyond bargain-basement pricing. Canori will oversee Related’s bet on the trend continuing as it gets going on a 41-story office-and-hotel project in Jackson Square, a downtown hotspot of late.

In Southern California he will have initial steps of the $3 billion Related Bristol mixed-use project near South Coast Plaza in Santa Ana on his to-do list this year. He’s a Southern California native, with deep roots in Orange County, where he cut his teeth with Carmel Partners in Newport Beach before joining Related in the early 2000s. His family is settled in the Bay Area, and he could stay up north while spending significant time at the developers headquarters in Irvine going forward.
