Jaret Turkell

Real estate is renowned for rewarding relentless hustle and grind, but Turkell appears to have mastered work-life balance. 

On Instagram as @deal_crush, he projects a fun-loving outdoorsman vibe — many of his posts feature Phish concerts, tropical escapes to the Bahamas and Costa Rica, Colorado snowboarding trips, and yoga sessions. The Berkadia multifamily and land broker has been crushing deals, too. 

After a stint in land use and real estate law in Miami, he joined HFF in 2007, then jumped to Berkadia in 2019. Turkell has done about $9 billion in sales, and he’s gotten hotter in recent years thanks to a roster of deals involving the Toledano family’s BH Group, one of South Florida’s most prolific investment and development firms. He listed BH and Kolter Group’s 1-acre oceanfront Miami Beach buildable site for $110 million; brokered the sale of a stake in BH’s waterfront North Miami condo development site to Kolter for $20 million; brokered the sale of a development site adjacent to Hollywood’s oceanfront Diplomat Resort Beach to BH and Related; and also worked on the acquisition loan for BH and Pebb Enterprises’ $104 million purchase of Office Depot’s Boca Raton headquarters, as well as the $39.5 million sale of 1-acre downtown Miami development site to a John Buck-led JV that included BH. 

Turkell has also made hay thanks to South Florida’s world of real estate pros-turned social media stars, representing Grant Cardone (see related entry) in the purchase of multifamily in recent years.
