Jason Johnson
The third generation of the Johnson family to take the helm of MetroNational, founded by Jason Johnson’s grandfather in 1954, Johnson has expanded its portfolio to include over 10 million square feet of commercial properties, primarily in the Greater Houston area.
One of the firm’s most notable projects is Memorial City, a 300-acre mixed-use development that has evolved into a prominent community in West Houston, receiving designation as a special government district in 1999. The “city-within-a-city” is located in the Memorial Villages area, which includes some of the wealthiest ZIP codes in the United States. The ongoing development includes the redevelopment of Memorial City Mall. The company has plans for a 27-acre mixed-use development to be built at the former Sears store site within the mall. The first phase will feature 190,000 square feet of standalone retail space.
MetroNational is also developing Greenside, a 35,000-square-foot mixed-use space set to transform an old warehouse on Gessner Road. This project will include office, retail, and restaurant spaces, complemented by a 1-acre park. The opening is scheduled in 2026.
