Ask the average consumer to point out a brokerage’s office and they’d more than likely be lost. In the case of The Oppenheim Group, there’s a good chance the company’s West Hollywood office on Sunset Boulevard could be identified by several with the address that’s been a set for many of the dramas that have played out on Netflix’s “Selling Sunset” reality TV show.

Jason Oppenheim parlayed the success of the first show into the “Selling the OC” spinoff, although the broker’s roots in L.A. real estate run much deeper than what’s appeared on the small screen.

Five generations of Oppenheim’s family have been involved in the industry, dating back to his great-great-grandfather in 1889. Oppenheim was at Coldwell Banker Realty for three years before starting his brokerage. The business has since expanded to also include offices in Newport Beach, San Diego and Cabo San Lucas.

While he reportedly was part of an escrow scheme that surfaced in allegations stemming from a late 2024 lawsuit (he was not a defendant) that was later settled, he seems not to have batted an eye with the claims. In 2025, post-Palisades and Eaton fires, Oppenheim and his team mobilized to help fire survivors find temporary housing. He also teamed with The Agency’s Ben Belack to spearhead a call to action for local and state leaders with a letter outlining measures aimed at helping expedite rebuilding and the recovery.
