Kevin Shannon

Office Broker

Office broker, Newmark

Shannon has facilitated over $80 billion of capital markets transactions in his decades-long career, and, over the years, his name has been attached to some of the priciest trades in the region.

After a decade at CBRE, he joined Newmark in 2015, where he serves as the Co-Head of U.S. Capital Markets and leads a 30-person team. Shannon brokered last year’s priciest office deal in all of Los Angeles County — he represented Brookfield, which sold a 52-story tower at 601 South Figueroa Street to Uncommon Developers for $210 million in an off-market trade that amounted to $201 per square foot.

Now, Shannon has yet another Brookfield-tied offering on the market: Newmark is shopping the Wells Fargo Center’s South Tower, a downtown skyscraper at 355 South Grand Avenue. Bids are anticipated to come in around $157 million, which wouldn’t cover the $263 million debt balance on the 45-story, about 1.2-million-square-foot office tower on Bunker Hill — but the lender-facilitated sale would still likely mean a hefty commission. Downtown distress and sell-offs appear to be somewhat working in Shannon’s favor as the top office broker.

Shannon also serves as chair of Caruso Catholic Center, founded by fellow University of Southern California grad Rick Caruso (see related entry).
