Black auditioned for the third season of “The Apprentice.”

He didn’t get a spot on the cast, but he did land a gig as a consultant with the show’s producers, allowing him a glimpse of Donald Trump’s notorious dealmaking in action.

The Mississippi native decided to put together some deals of his own. He joined the Corcoran Group as an agent in 2005 and spent a decade at the firm before jumping to Douglas Elliman, where he rose in the ranks to become the founder of one of the firm’s top-producing teams with 30 agents under his purview.

Last year, the team nabbed more than $250 million in sell-side deals in the city, placing fourth in The Real Deal’s ranking of the top resale agents and 13th among new development brokers.

However, in 2025, Black ended his post at the top of Elliman’s food chain. He returned to Corcoran, along with 10 of his team members, on the heels of a wave of departures from Elliman as the firm grapples with executive shakeups, mounting losses and blowback from news of sexual assault allegations against its former leading brokers.
