Beatty is leading a pack that’s kept Compass in the No. 1 spot by a wide margin among L.A. County residential brokerages in recent years. 

Since 2021 Beatty’s been responsible for the firm’s Southern California and Hawaii teams, which includes offices in many of the top luxury markets: Beverly Hills, Brentwood, Malibu and Newport Beach. It’s a big business, with TRD’s 2025 ranking of the market’s top brokerages tracing $14.5 billion in sales volume to Compass agents within Los Angeles County alone. That was across nearly 6,000 transactions. 

Beatty joined the brokerage as sales manager for Beverly Hills and Hollywood in 2017, and since then the Southern California and Hawaii business has gone from six offices and about 400 agents to more than 5,000 agents and over 100 locations coming in at annual sales in excess of $28 billion. Among the major recruiting wins in the past few years was landing former Hilton & Hyland President David Kramer, Josh Flagg, Tracy Tutor and, most recently, ex-Hilton Hilton CEOs and co-founders Barron and Tessa Hilton. Before Compass, Beatty got his start in 1993 at Pacifica Capital Group and now counts 30 years in Los Angeles real estate.
