Winston Fisher

Fisher started at Fisher Brothers as a kid working in the mailroom; today he’s part of the third generation of leadership at the company founded by Martin Fisher more than a century ago as a construction firm.

When the city was still looking for life in its beleaguered post-pandemic office leasing landscape, Fisher Brothers provided an example for others. In 2023, law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison signed a 20-year lease for 765,000 square feet, representing the market’s largest lease of the year.

Last year, an affiliate of Blackstone acquired a 46 percent interest in the Midtown Manhattan property while Fisher Brothers increased its own ownership stake.

The investment gave the building a full capitalization of $1.4 billion, a $500 million jump from an S&P Global appraisal a year earlier and a beacon at a time of valuation slashes for commercial properties.

The firm could still be held to the whims of the market, though. In January, billionaire Chinese developer Zhang Xin — through her firm Closer Properties — looked to sell her 49 percent stake in Park Avenue Plaza, which could value the 1.2 million-square-foot tower at $1.3 billion. Fisher is the majority owner of the property.
