Holmes Business and Milestone Housing Group want to replace some mid-century offices with 154 affordable homes in southwest San Jose.

The San Jose-based property owner and the Los Gatos-based affordable housing developer of affordable homes have filed preliminary plans to build a 154-unit apartment complex at 259 Meridian Avenue, the San Jose Mercury News reported.

Three single-story office buildings built in 1958 would be demolished. In June, their assessed value was $5.6 million.

Holmes, led by Paul and Krista Lin, has teamed up with Milestone to redevelop 1.3 acres on Meridian, between West San Carlos Street and Norton Avenue.

Plans call for a six-story apartment building with 154 units. The developers would employ SB 330 to streamline approval of the development.

In December, Milestone Housing and Allied Housing filed plans to build a 100-unit affordable housing complex in an arts colony at 934-948 East Santa Clara Street in Downtown San Jose.

Milestone Housing, founded in 2019, has developed three housing projects in San Jose and single residential projects in Livermore, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Luis Obispo and Santa Cruz, its website has said. Recent projects include 92 senior apartments in Sonoma.
