Independent brokerage makes Marin County moves with merger

City Real Estate expanded with an office in Kentfield amid San Francisco’s mansion shortage

San Francisco-based City Real Estate is growing its presence on the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge, and it’s adding some heavy hitters to its roster of real estate agents.

The brokerage leased a Marin County office in Kentfield, according to a news release. The move comes as the independent company, founded by David Cohen, merges with Alamere Real Estate and Tam Realty, two Side firms in Marin County that together recorded $123 million in sales volume last year.

City Real Estate’s Kentfield office is at 636 College Avenue. It also has an office in San Anselmo.

City Real Estate hopes to take advantage of the “natural movement of buyers and sellers to and from San Francisco and Marin,” with the merger and expansion, Cohen said.

San Francisco’s luxury market is dominated by an “egregious shortage of mansions,” with AI‑driven wealth prompting all‑cash, no‑contingency offers that clear listings within days.

Alamere Real Estate and Tam Realty will come under the City Real Estate umbrella.

Alamere will become The Narodny Team, composed of Alexander Narodny, Karin Narodny, Ashley Boteler and James Schalich.

Tam Realty will operate as The Tam Team, consisting of Kira Swaim, David Swaim and Drew Howes. Tam founder Kira Swaim described her team as “leaders in the Ross Valley market” for nearly two decades.

City Real Estate expects its agent count in Marin County to grow to between 20 and 25 agents by the end of this year. The firm, founded in 2018, is the second-largest independent residential real estate firm in the Bay Area.

With the Kentfield office, the firm projects its production in Marin will increase to $200 million this year from roughly $40 million annually. City Real Estate surpassed $1 billion in sales last year, up from $650 million the year before. Its goal in the coming years is to reach $500 million in Marin sales volume.
