Founders of Amy’s Kitchen list Stinson Beach hideaway for $16M

Owners of Bali-style pad with a heated pool seek more than $8K per sf

Amy's Kitchen founders Andrew and Rachel Berliner with 172 Seadrift Road in Stinson Beach

Two food entrepreneurs known for their brand’s bean burritos are looking to cook up a deal for their Marin County property.

Andrew and Rachel Berliner, founders of the Amy’s Kitchen organic food firm based in Petaluma, listed the 1,900-square-foot beachfront pad in Stinson Beach for $16 million — more than $10 million what they paid 15 years ago, the San Francisco Standard reported.

A sale at that price would fetch more than $8,420 per square foot. The couple bought the five-bedroom, three-bathroom house at 172 Seadrift Road in 2011 for $5.7 million, or $3,000 per square foot.

The house, built on three-quarters of an acre in 1983, resembles an island retreat, with its five bedrooms styled as steep gabled huts with doors that open onto patio gardens.

The rooms resemble joglos, or traditional Indonesian wooden pavilions with peaked roofs, according to Compass agent Butch Haze, who has the listing.

“I’ve sold a lot of homes over the years, but this is one of the few where I found myself checking flight prices to Bali afterward,” Haze, who shares the listing with Sarah Butler of Oceanic Realty, told the Standard.

The oceanside paradise comes with a heated pool, and the home’s living spaces offer views of the Pacific Ocean and Mt. Tamalpais.

The Berliners, whose primary home is near their company in Petaluma, say they’re selling the house because they want to replicate the tropical gem in Hawaii, where their daughter has moved with her husband and son.

Amy’s Kitchen, known for its hit bean and rice burritos and other fare found in the frozen aisles of supermarkets, has annual retail sales of about $1 billion, according to a Fortune profile of the couple.

Homes along Stinson Beach, east of Bolinas on Bolinas Bay in Marin County, now fetch premium prices, according to Haze.

In 2023, a larger house a few doors down at 134 Seadrift was sold for $17.5 million.  A four-bedroom, three-bathroom house built in 2014 across the lagoon on Dipsea sold this month for more than $10 million, about $3 million above the asking price.
