A century-old Beaux Arts-style mansion in Piedmont hit the market for $12.75 million.

Built in 1915, the 10,224-square-foot home was designed by architect Charles Peter Weeks for East Bay banker Edson Adams, Dirt.com reported. It was owned for years by Joseph Russell Knowland, a Congressman and publisher of the Oakland Tribune, and stayed in his family until the mid-1970s.

Michael O’Sullivan, CEO of Burlington Stores, bought the home for just under $6 million in 2008.

The home sits on more than a half-acre lot on Sea View Avenue. The five-bedroom, six-and-a-half-bathroom home has Juliette balconies that overlook the circular driveway and manicured lawn.

Vintage accents such as light fixtures, hand-painted wallpaper, intricate moldings and arched windows and doorways remain in the home, which has been updated. Solar panels and a historic Sedgwick elevator are some of the amenities.
