A developer has filed plans to top a commercial building in San Francisco’s Chinatown with a two-story addition of six apartments.
Xie Associates, an architectural firm led by Bill Guan based in Candlestick Point, has proposed building the 2,900-square-foot addition at 749 Grant Ave., SFYimby reported., while remodeling the building’s basement.
The commercial building of four- and two stories now has more than 4,700 square feet. The two-story addition would bring it up to nearly 7,600 square feet, with six residential units.

The builder has also proposed a roof deck on the third floor, along with an elevator with a penthouse apartment.
Development permits have been filed and a shadow study is required for the project. An estimated cost of construction is $400,00, with no construction timeline given.
