A 260,400-square-foot life sciences research building may break ground soon in Menlo Park.

Tarlton Properties, based in the city, won approval from the City Council to build the five-story complex at 1350 Adams Court, SFYimby reported.

The 92-foot-tall building would be big enough to house 650 workers near the Dumbarton Bridge and Meta headquarters.

The building has been “designed with the flexibility to accommodate a single life sciences tenant or meet the needs of multiple tenants,” according to the final environmental impact report.

It would include parking for more than 700 cars in underground and above-ground garages. Some of the parking will serve a commercial building next door at 1305 O’Brien Drive.

The gray-and-white building, designed by DES Architects + Engineers of Redwood City, would include floor-to-ceiling windows divided by silver panes. The second floor will include a furnished patio and outdoor deck.

The life sciences campus will include 109,020 square feet of open space, of which 48,800 square feet will be publicly accessible with landscaping, an art walk and paths for pedestrians and cyclists.

Construction is expected to take 29 months, though an estimated timeline and cost have not been set.
The Bay Area has the largest life science real estate market in the nation, with 34 million square feet of life science property, according to a June report by brokerage Colliers.
