While only asking its employees to come into the office once a week, Databricks is adding square footage to its San Francisco headquarters.

The cloud-based data analytics company — one of the fastest-growing Silicon Valley startups pre-pandemic — officially renewed its lease at 160 Spear Street, the San Francisco Business Times reported. In recent months, the city’s office vacancy has risen to close to 25 percent.

A spokesperson for the firm confirmed the lease renewal to the Times on Friday, but did not disclose the details of the transaction. However, a source with knowledge of the deal did confirm that the lease is for 70,000 square feet — compared to the 60,000 square feet it currently occupies in the 19-story office building. Also it was reported that Databricks added one floor to its footprint.

“We’re excited to signal our commitment to San Francisco and the Bay Area more broadly combined with our Silicon Valley office in Mountain View,” said Amy Reichanadter, the company’s chief people officer. “The expansion will continue our focus on developing flexible working environments where we can create great customer engagement and strong teamwork.”

Originally founded in Berkeley, Databricks relocated its headquarters to San Francisco in 2015. In 2021, it was valued at $38 billion.
