August saw New York City’s multifamily leaders converge at Torrisi to dish on the market. The evening kicked off the Amazon Key Private Access Dinner Series, which brings the worlds of real estate and tech together as both industries chart their shared path into the next phase of multifamily development. Speakers and attendees discussed the real estate market and how innovations like smart access control solutions have the potential to impact both the bottom line and community life across the multifamily space.
Executives including Atlantic’s Peter Fine, Silverstein’s Bobby Chen, Skyline’s Orin Wilf, and multifamily executive Karen Hollinger joined Punky Witt, Head of Global Marketing for Amazon Key, around the table in Torrisi’s private dining room for a lively discussion about the state of the real estate market.
TRD’s Amir Korangy opened the event by noting how today’s challenging market presents great buying opportunities, emphasizing the importance of real estate to NYC’s economy and tax base. He also highlighted that technology is driving change and creating new efficiencies in the city’s crucial multifamily space.
Speaker Jay Martin, executive director of the Community Housing Improvement Program, expanded on these themes, discussing the importance of finding housing for all while navigating the city’s rapidly changing economy.
Finally, Witt talked about technology’s unique ability to transform multifamily buildings while forging new connections between people and communities. She told the gathered real estate leaders that Amazon Key is committed to creating tech that can solve problems for multifamily buildings, which are central to communities not only around NYC but across the country and around the world. Specifically, technologies like smart access solutions are becoming critical amenities, upgrading the resident experience by improving security and convenience while giving building staff time back in their days to focus on community operations.
The attendees continued the conversation among themselves while enjoying a custom menu by Michelin-starred chef Rich Torrisi of Major Food Group, and left the Mulberry Street restaurant sated after an evening of fine dining and thought-provoking discussion.
