For the latest entry in the Developer Diaries, TRD got a look inside the exquisite kitchens at Avdoo & Partners’ Bergen development. Nestled in the heart of Brooklyn’s trendy Boerum Hill neighborhood, the 105 homes at Bergen boast locally-inspired exteriors designed by Taller Frida Escobedo and interiors crafted by Workstead. The building’s vast suite of amenities seamlessly integrates with the Brooklyn community through unique programming by the Bergen Collective; BKLYN CLAY will program the ceramic studio, Arts Gowanus will activate the art studio, Kettl will program the tea room, and Claudia Germuga and Makena Diehl will program the fitness suite.
“We approached Frida Escobedo early on and quickly aligned on designing a project with materials and proportions that are contextual and complementary to the neighborhood. Workstead carried this effort into the interiors, embracing natural materials and craftsmanship inspired by surrounding brownstones,” explains developer Shlomi Avdoo.
Bergen’s interiors are centered around their organic, earth-toned wood-paneled chef’s kitchens, where Thermador’s state-of-the-art appliances create a seamless and luxurious cooking experience.
“We are obsessed with our kitchens,” says Avdoo. “The design is completely custom, from the unique white oak handles to the light fixture, and we love the smart tech technology within Thermador appliances, specifically the refrigerator.”
Avdoo & Partners and BSH have worked together on a number of projects, always leveraging their shared passion and energy to create breathtaking kitchens that embody the firms’ shared values.
“Everything that they do is intentional,” says BSH’s Leah Kalemba. “So for us, we really want to provide trust and authenticity in what we deliver to their kitchen spaces.”
