It has brokered a number of high-profile sales, including the sale of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis' 14-room co-op to billionaire David Koch, and David Rockefeller's Upper East Side townhouse. As with many major brokerages, BHS has made news as it changed hands over the years. It was purchased by real estate investor Harry Helmsley in 1965 and sold by Leona Helmsley in 1995 to Arthur and William Zeckendorf and Kent Swig. This group went on to form Terra Holdings, of which BHS is a subsidiary. Under their leadership the firm purchased Halstead Properties in 2001 and several boutique firms since.
