A 15,000-square-foot North Dallas mansion that design mavens consider iconic is on the market for $10.9 million.

The house at 6645 Northaven Road in Hillcrest Estates was designed by architect Lionel Morrison and built in 2007. Dallas’ Morrison is known primarily for his work on notable houses in the South, the Southwest and California, but he has also won awards for his work on multifamily buildings, commercial landscapes and public places such as Eagle Family Plaza at the Dallas Museum of Art. It was last listed in September 2020 for $6.5 million and sold for an undisclosed amount in October 2021, according to the current Compass listing. Compass’ Amy Detwiler is the listing agent.

The semicircular two-story house is on two acres and overlooks a pool and courtyard that echo its shape. It has six bedrooms, nine bathrooms, and four garage spaces. It has expected mansion perks including a wine room, a home gym; a game room; and an upstairs office. It has concrete floors and a great room, as suits an upscale house of the period. It also has a basement, which is somewhat of a rarity in Texas.

Earlier this year, Crescent Estate Custom Homes redeveloped the house and property with DDLA landscape designers and interior designer Brant McFarlin. All three businesses are headquartered in Dallas.

Its Hillcrest Estates neighborhood is distinguished primarily by its palatial homes on generous lots, including many well-executed modern and contemporary houses — but none that look quite as much like a spaceship.
