Texas’ housing-strapped capital city is getting a 750-unit multifamily development to help ease the burden of its skyrocketing growth. Austin multifamily development, construction and investment firm OHT Partners — formerly Oden Hughes — is building two new apartment complexes on a 37-acre site near South First Street.
The first of the developments to break ground is Lenox Woods at 10801 Wayne Riddell Loop, which will have a mix of one- and two-bedrooms totaling 402 units. Planned community amenities include two pools, pickleball courts, a work studio, a fitness center, electric vehicle charging stations and a dog park. It’s scheduled to open in 2023.
OHT will build a second, 348-unit apartment complex nearby in 2024. The two planned communities will have a combined 7.5 acres of shaded parkland and will be encircled by a mile-long trail. They’ll be near South Park Meadows, Austin’s second largest retail
Center, and recent projects that have been redeveloped on former light-industrial sites, including the Yard and the St. Elmo Public Market.
