Austin may have lost its pole position as the nation’s hottest housing market at the start of the year, but it still reigns as the priciest market in Texas.
Half of the 10 most expensive Texas homes for sale in August are in the capital city, including four of the top five, according to data compiled by the Houston Association of Realtors.
Austin is on track to surpass Houston as a luxury home market this year and maybe even take the top spot from Dallas-Fort Worth.
The top 10 active luxury listings on the market in Texas in August range in price from $18 million to $8.5 million. Five are within Austin city limits — Dallas and Houston proper had two and one, respectively. Here’s a closer look at the top five overall.
