Dallas-based Carbon Companies is jumping into the San Antonio market with a new, large-scale project.

Dubbed The Greyson, the $45 million apartment community is slated to begin construction in October and be completed two years later. The multifamily development will have three apartment buildings, a parking garage, a fitness room, a clubhouse, and a pool.

The company could not be reached for comment regarding the number of units, but plans filed with the state show the project will encompass 358,000 square feet.

Carbon Companies is not the only out-of-town developer to bring a new project to San Antonio. Back in July Austin-based IMPACT Developers was in the approval phases for a 318-unit luxury multifamily development, known as GreenGate Village. And Houston developer First America Homes plans to build 500 new homes a year around the Alamo City.

San Antonio is attracting ever more attention from developers as the state’s spiraling home prices have priced potential homebuyers out neighboring Austin.

The Carbon Companies currently holds over $2 billion in assets and about 35,000 apartment units across the country, with this being their latest venture in the Texas market.
