A 7,000-square-foot Thai restaurant will take shape between Austin and San Marcos, thanks to tax breaks from the City of Kyle.
Spoon + Fork Thai Kitchen will open its third location in suburban Texas, at the Kyle Crossing retail center off Interstate 35, the Austin Business Journal reported. The Kyle City Council approved incentives for the new location, including a 100 percent sales tax rebate for the first three years.
Officials expect the restaurant to generate about $50,000 in capital investment. Construction begins in early 2023 and could be finished as soon as summer 2023. The restaurant’s other locations are in Belterra Village, near Dripping Springs, and in McKinney, near Dallas.
This location provides a community amenity in the fast-growing region between Austin and San Antonio.
“The restaurant incentive was created to attract restaurants with diverse offerings to our community,” the city of Kyle’s Department of Economic Development Director Victoria Vargas said in a statement. “We are honored that Spoon + Fork selected Kyle as a location for their third restaurant, following the success of their first two stores.”
Kyle Crossing is also slated to have a Chipotle, Crust Pizza and Black Rock Coffee. Hobby Lobby, Academy Sports and Outdoors, Rudy’s Bar-B-Q and Via 313 are also opening locations nearby.
Development is booming in Kyle. Rastegar Property Company recently released plans for a 318-acre development build-to-rent site in Kyle, a fast-growing market among the various suburbs filling the gap between Austin and San Antonio.
The 700 Bunton project is expected to eventually include 1,000 single-family homes for rent, 1,400 apartment units, over 50,000 square of commercial space, an 11-acre school site, and 60 acres of green space.
